What can be done to support the National Effort through COVID-19?

Find out how Social Value Portal is playing its part in supporting communities work through COVID-19, when communities most need support.

As a social business Social Value Portal is keen to demonstrate how we can play our part to support communities work through COVID-19. Our mission is to engage, enable, empower people and organisations to work together in the pursuit of social, economic and environmental wellbeing. We want to ensure our work doesn’t stop, especially during this time when communities most need support.

Alongside the release of the National TOMs COVID-19 Plugin, we are providing a resource bank where you can find opportunities for individuals and organisations to offer support where they can. We will work to constantly update this list as new opportunities become available, and we encourage you to share the list, contact us if you require, or know of opportunities that are not listed.

How to support getting food to those who need it

FareShare

https://fareshare.org.uk/

FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 17 independent organisations. Together, they take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to almost 11,000 frontline charities and community groups.

The Felix Project

https://thefelixproject.org/

The Felix Project collects fresh, nutritious food that cannot be sold. They deliver this surplus food to charities and schools so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society.

Bankuet

https://www.bankuet.co.uk/

Bankuet provides an easy way for individuals and organisations to donate food to be distributed to Foodbanks across the UK

OLIO

https://olioex.com/cook4kids/

OLIO connects neighbours with each other and with local businesses so surplus food can be shared, not thrown away. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools have closed all over the world, meaning millions of children have lost access to free school meals. These schools might be closed, but school lunches must go on. You can support Olio by preparing meals for the most vulnerable.
