Organised by the National Social Value Taskforce supported by Local Government Association and Social Value Portal, the conference will bring together experts to share good practice and innovative ideas on embedding social value into business and how we can bridge the gap between public, private and third sector organisations.

This year, Minister for Civil Society, Baroness Barran MBE will give the opening keynote address under the theme of Recover-Rebuild-Renew. Plenary discussions will focus on how public and private sectors can work together to help rebuild and renew our communities as we all emerge from the pandemic. The event will also see the launch of the National TOMs 2021 Framework and a new social value measurement framework for central government that meets the requirements of the government’s recently released Social Value Model.

Chair of the National Social Value Taskforce, Darren Knowd, acknowledges the importance of this event, commenting,

“The Taskforce is pleased to support this event. It is important that we look for ways to work together across all sectors to bring the best benefit and value to the communities we serve, so that we can emerge stronger and better equipped for the future together.

“The conference will be a chance for experts across the board to voice their challenges and solutions, so that we can effectively share best practice on embedding social value practices.”

The conference will focus on the public sector and private sector with a host of high-profile speakers including:

  • Paul Dennett, Mayor, Salford City Council
  • Dame Elizabeth Corley DBE, Chair, Impact Institute
  • John Barradell, Chief Executive, City of London Corporation
  • Claire Dove CBE, VCSE Crown Representative
  • Sophie Bellon, Chairwoman, Sodexo
  • Sally Uren, CEO, Forum for the Future
  • Edward Vaughan Dixon, Head of ESG, Aviva Investors Real Assets

Chief Executive of Social Value Portal, Guy Battle, who has been an advocate of embedding social value into businesses and the public sector since the inception of the Public Services (Social Value) Act, recognised the importance of this event and its timing, saying,

We need to advocate for a way to look forward and support our communities as we come out of this crisis.

“Of course, tackling the current crisis is critical. This conference will give the forum for public, private and third sector organisations to meet and discuss the best way to look forward, and to adapt our businesses in the post-pandemic world, and ensure we are supporting communities in the right way.”

The event is kindly supported by our sponsors ISG, Eric Wright Group, Engie, Suez and supporting partners including, Crown Commercial Services, Institute for Workplace and Facilities Management, , Commerce Decisions, Living Wage Foundation, the Federation of Small Businesses, Business in the Community, Social Mobility Foundation, Supply Chain Sustainability School and Proactis, as well as our media partner, Public Sector Executive.

The event is predicted to attract over 1,000 people from across the UK and beyond to join in the discussions around furthering the social value agenda.
