We’re Social Value Creators

Social Value Creators are progressive organisations from the public and private sectors committed to making a tangible difference to communities. We are here to support each other.

Why Social Value Creators?

Putting social value into measureable, financial terms helps us all to understand the importance and potential of what we can achieve. Social value creation is about supporting people and communities. It’s about improving lives, like offering placements for the long-term unemployed; working with schools around careers and mentoring, or even setting up a community group or environmental enterprise.

Valuing the future

Businesses with robust social value strategies and plans are future-proofing their own value, too. Without doubt this will also provide other benefits, like securing public sector work and supply chain contracts. Or attracting and retaining talent and boosting staff morale.

How we help businesses to become Social Value Creators

You can join all of us part of the Social Value Creators movement to create more jobs, a cleaner environment, and more support for all.

Ultimately, it’s about supporting communities and the environment with activities like:

  • Local job creation
  • Placements for the long-term unemployed
  • Working with schools around careers and mentoring
  • Direct community action, like litter-picking
  • A net zero carbon target

Investing in your community can help your organisation to thrive. Be recognised for the value you add in public sector and supply chain contracts, attract new employees to your purpose, and improve employee morale and retention. Healthier, more resilient communities support business success.

Why be a Social Value Creator?

Public Sector

It’s been more than a decade since the Social Value Act was introduced. Public sector procurers and suppliers now pay more attention to their impact on local communities.

But social value is more than procurement policy. We want you to realise the power you have in changing your community.

Evaluate anything from your hiring policy to your use of single use plastics and you’ll see how much good you already do, as well as where you can improve.

Private Sector

Momentum is building in the private sector. Businesses know that their value can’t simply be put in terms like ‘gross’, ‘net’ and ‘turnover’.

There is so much opportunity for Social Value Creators in the private sector. Businesses have a long and well established history of transforming communities. However, they’ve a far shorter history of being able to tangibly measure this contribution.

In a nutshell, social value in a business creates a ‘virtuous circle’. Businesses invest in their communities, helping them to thrive, leading to a healthier, more resilient community. And that, in turn, supports business success.
