Social Value for Health and Social Care
Earlier this year, the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU)* commissioned the Social Value Portal to develop a social value measurement tool for organisations operating within the health and social and social care system. The ‘Social Value Calculator’ is now live and can be downloaded from the SDU’s website.
The Social Value Calculator enables organisations to measure the wider social, economic and environmental value created through the way they operate, procure services and goods, engage with suppliers and develop new partnerships.
The Calculator is based on the National Themes, Outcomes and Measures (TOMs) Framework 2018 that was launched at the National Social Value Conference in November 2017 and has been designed to reflect the needs of patients, staff, businesses, suppliers, communities and society a whole. The Social Value Portal consulted and collaborated with stakeholders in the public, private and third sectors to develop a set of TOMs appropriate for organisations operating within the health and social care system.
For more information and to download the Calculator please visit the SDU’s website.
*The SDU is funded by, and accountable to, NHS England and Public Health England to work across the NHS, public health and social care system. For more information please visit: https://www.sduhealth.org.uk
